O surto de cólera de 1833, em Lisboa, obrigou à construção do Cemitério dos Prazeres. Hoje este cemitério é a última morada de algumas das mais proeminentes figuras da sociedade portuguesa, nomeadamente de artistas, escritores e políticos. E é uma autêntica galeria de arte a céu aberto, onde esculturas de diferentes períodos reflectem atitudes diversas perante a morte.
